Baby Rod: Weeks 10, 11, and 12

Yeah yeah, I’m jumping on the chalkboard bandwagon.

I wanted a cute way to document my pregnancy weekly, so I’m going with it. I got the frame at the thrift store (it was a hideous print) … spray painted it, and covered the glass with chalkboard vinyl.  I tried chalkboard paint, but it flaked off when I tried to erase (since I’m using chalk pens instead of chalk) … so back to the drawing board I went, ordering this vinyl.

I paid $6 for the frame. $10.50 for the vinyl, and I already had the markers and the spray paint … so win-win.

Announcement-board

Anyway. We’re super excited to announce that we’re due with our first baby this May! Estimated due date is May 3.

I really thought it would take me a long time to start showing. Despite losing 20 lbs prior to getting pregnant, I’m still a bigger girl and everyone said bigger girls take longer … you know, because of all of the fluff.

Anyhoodle. I woke up in the middle of week 10 and my pants no longer fit. HELLO, BUMP! What the heck!? As annoying as it was to have to run out to buy maternity jeans right before my business trip, I have to admit I was totally stoked to start showing … after all that sickness and fatigue, there really {obviously, now} IS a baby in there!

Week 10:

10-wks

Week 11:

11-wks

Week 12:

12-wksLike my Redskins bow? I got it from my pal, Melissa, over at A Little Bolt of Life … check out her adorable Etsy shop!

Here are a few quick notes, since everyone has asked the same questions (how are you feeling?, how far along are you?, have you felt it kick yet?, are you finding out the sex?):

How far along?  12 weeks, 2 days

How big is the baby? Almost 2″ long, about the size of a peach

How are you feeling? Consistently, pretty lousy. As far as humans go, I feel like crap. But, as far as pregnant humans go, I think I’ve been pretty lucky. No puking, just a lot of nausea, dizziness, aches and pains, and holy cow the fatigue. You have never been tired unless you’ve been pregnant. No lie.

Have you gained any weight? We aren’t going to talk about this quite yet. Let’s give a new mom some time to get used to the fact that the number on the scale is going up instead of down, shall we?

Any cravings? All of the carbs. All. Of. Them. Bagels especially. And pasta. How I love pasta.

Any food aversions? My grossed-outness with chicken comes and goes. The thought of spinach repulses me.

Have you felt it move?  YES! Just last week, at my kids’ cheer competition, I felt it move twice. Imagine a goldfish swimming around in your gut … that’s just about what it feels like.

Are you finding out the sex? YES! We can’t wait to find out what we’re having (and subsequently yell it from the rooftops … er … blogtops?)

Best moment of the week: Seeing our baby move. We went in for our 12-week appointment and ultrasound and it took the tech a good few minutes to get Baby Rod to chill out and stay still long enough to take a few good pictures. He/she was bouncing all over the place. Flipping. Spinning. Rolling. Jumping. You name it, this crazy kid was doing it.

Anyway. That’s just about all I’ve got for now … I’m going to try my best to post baby updates (a.k.a. bumpdates … who knew) weekly, but I’m already starting to dread that chalkboard and we’ve only done THREE!
